How to root your MediaTek Device using MTK Tools?

MTK Droid Tools are a set of tools created specifically for MediaTek Devices to help in flashing custom ROM, rooting your device and various other functions. It has been developed by MediaTek Inc and is distributed by them completely for free. The latest version of MTK Tools is V 2.5.3. Read more on MTK Tools.

Guide to rooting your MediaTek device using MTK Tools

Before using MTK Tools

Make sure you have a backup of your device.
Download the latest MTK Tools compatible with your device.
Have a USB cable and a PC with Windows Operating System.
Download latest USB Drivers on your PC.
Download PdaNet.

Step One - Download the latest MTK Root Tools on your windows PC. Make sure you have downloaded PdaNet as well.

Step Two - On your device enable USB Debugging by going to Settings ⇒ Developer Options ⇒ Check the USB Debugging option.


Step Three - Connect your device with your PC. Make sure to download latest USB drivers for your device.

Step Four - Right click on MTK Tools and select the option “Run as administrator.”

Step Five - The MTK Tool will detect your device if it is compatible and on the MTK Tools window it will display device information on the left side.

Step Six - On the bottom of your MTK Tools window, click Root. Click OK on the PC and tap on Grant on your device.


Step Seven - The rooting process will begin and as soon as it is successful you will see a green progress bar. Make sure to have your device backed up before starting the root process.
